A few of my coworkers invited me to a Battle of the Bands show in Atlanta, Ga a few months ago. Now being that I am a band geek, I was super excited to go. I had a few months to prepare. Well, as time drew closer, life happened and the realization set in that I wasn’t going to be able to attend. I tried every way imaginable to make it possible for me to go but no luck. I let my coworkers know that I wasn’t going. I went to work the next day and as I was headed to my position, I stopped and talked to one of my friends that was attending the BOTB. She informed me that I would be in attendance and that I needed to book my flight. When I tried to explain to her why I wasn’t going, she quickly shushed me and told me that she and another friend “HAD ME!” She said I always help people whenever I can and she felt like I deserved to go. My eyes IMMEDIATELY filled up with water! I didn’t know what to say. All I could say was “THANK YOU!” I went and booked my flight and got excited again!
Fast forward to the show... I’m sitting in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium waiting in anticipation for the battle to start. The show opener was a collaboration of all the bands performing together. It was wonderful! These bands were there to compete against each other. But in order to perform a spectacular opener, at some point, they had to come together. They had to come together, as one collective unit, to practice and make sure they displayed an excellent representation of what the show was all about! It made me think about the kindness and generosity of my coworkers. They didn’t have to take of me while I was there. Heck, they didn’t even have to think enough of me to even consider making arrangements for me to go. But they did! It was a reminder that everyone isn’t against you. Everything doesn’t have to be a battle. In hard times, there are people who will band together and be a ray of sunshine in a dark tunnel. We fight so many personal battles on a daily basis: depression, anxiety, grief, stress, etc. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to band around and for someone and it feels good to know people in your life will band around you!
Thank you to those special people that allowed me to have a super fun weekend! I pray God blesses you ten times over. If you have people like this in your life, remember to include them in your prayers. Remember to reach out a helping hand when they are in need. Remember to love on them. And remember, to always, beYOUtiful!
