Have you ever been so determined to accomplish something that you find yourself doing almost anything to achieve it? You’ve been so determined to get that promotion at work, that you haven’t realized you’ve been mistreating coworkers to kiss up to managers. You’ve been so determined to get that A in school, that you haven’t realized you haven’t seen your family in weeks because you’ve been too busy studying. Or that new love interest that you are so determined to conquer, you can’t even see that you’ve been doing things out of the ordinary, including ignoring your friends.
You’ve done all of this and guess what...you still didn’t get the promotion, you got a B+ instead of an A, and that love interest took his/her interests elsewhere. So, now what do you do? Fall back! That’s right, just fall back! Every now and then, we must take a moment to gather ourselves and regroup. And you know what...that’s ok! Falling back isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes, it’s needed to not only find ourselves but to also let others recognize your absence. Being in the forefront isn’t always necessary. Being the aggressor isn’t always required. Being the biggest or loudest in a room isn’t always a good thing.
It’s ok to fail every now and then. It happens. It’s ok if you aren’t number one all of the time. It happens. It’s ok if someone does recognize what you bring to the table. It happens. Just fall back and adjust according. I promise, you won’t regret it.
