The past four days have been simply incredible! No, I didn’t win the lottery and no I didn’t have a genie in a bottle grant me three wishes. But what I did have was good food, great laughs, and special time spent with family and friends.
My best friend came to Baltimore so we could celebrate her birthday. We had dinner at Mo’s Seafood (which seems to be her favorite spot when she visits), followed by milkshakes from Sonic. While at Sonic, we witnessed the skater waiter fall and hop back up so fast you would have thought the ground electrocuted him! When I tell you we laughed until we could not breathe!!! *He was fine for those of you fake caring*. The next day, my bestie, my cousin Kim, and I flew to Chicago for the Taste Of Chicago. (See previous blog post for that wonderful experience). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves even though Tiffany and I had to cut the trip a little short. On Friday, we just hung out, and again, had some good food and laughs. The following day, I flew my son’s beat friend here so they could enjoy the weekend since they were both off and hadn’t seen each other in a while. We went to Baltimore Carnival, enjoyed a delicious seafood dinner cooked by my mom, and had dessert from this DOPE ice cream shoppe. (Blog on the ice cream parlor coming soon)!
In the midst of all of this, it hit me like a ton of bricks...I’m living the life that I prayed for. I used to always pray to have a house that was large enough for me to entertain guests. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am very grateful for the house I own in Virginia. But it’s not very large. The house I am in now, allows me to entertain guests without being on top of each other. I prayed God would allow my family and I to travel all over the world. And wouldn’t you know it, I have a job that does just that! My family can travel and I’m also fortunate enough to share those privileges with friends. Now, y’all know I’ve been praying for reliable transportation and the ability to drive it myself. When I tell you God is showing out!!! My vision is so much better that I am driving myself around and not only am I driving myself around, I’m driving in a new 2019 Chevy Cruze. A 2019 car y’all!!! A car that I know for a fact my credit nor my bank account should allow me to have. A car that is in my possession with reasonable car payments. Mind you, I walked in the dealership with NO MONEY TO MY NAME!!! Do y’all hear what I’m saying to you? Now please don’t think I’m bragging because I promise you I’m not. Just sharing how prayers have been answered. It’s been my prayer since March 1, 1999 that my son be blessed and successful. And God has made it so! He is doing so well, at just 20 years old, and I couldn’t be prouder!
Please don’t get it twisted though! To whom much is given, much is required. What does that mean? It means I have to work hard both physically, mentally, and spiritually because in the same manner these blessings were given, they can be taken away. And I am fully aware of that. I had to learn to let some things and people go. I had to accept I can’t go and do what EVERYONE else does. I have to turn down some opportunities. I have to endure long hours. I have to miss out on some of my wants in order to maintain all of my needs. But God is good and His grace is sufficient! Seeing my prayers coming to fruition is truly mind blowing and the crazy thing is, I know that this is just the beginning!
So, remember what you pray for. It’s coming! Watch, work, and wait! Then share! And most importantly, keep going and keep PRAYING!
