What’s Your One?

Writer's picture: Danielle CurtisDanielle Curtis

He told them this parable. "Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it? When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

Now, I know, this bible scripture has a slightly different meaning but just follow me.

Have you ever been in a crowded room but still felt lonely? Do you have all (or most) of everything that you could dream or ask for but still felt like there is something missing? No matter what you do or what you have, is there something (or someone) that pulls at your heart strings until you get it or achieve it? I’ve been there! Heck, I’m there now! I was recently ridiculed for this and it made me feel bad. Someone pretty much called me selfish and talked down on me because of one of my desires. It honestly left me speechless! Here’s my question…when does a desire turn into selfishness? And isn’t having a small dose of selfishness healthy? What if you were lost or struggling or hopeless or helpless but someone overlooked 99 others to reach out for you?

Please don’t ever think that your dreams, goals, desires, and aspirations are selfish. Don’t ever be afraid to hold out, seek out, and reach out for your ONE! That ONE can be a new home, new job, new love, new bag, new clothes, etc.

Whether or not you already have and/or are surrounded by nine, ninety, or ninety nine, until your heart is satisfied, go get your ONE!
